There is no charge to the individual for using the services of a licensed health insurance agent—the commission is entirely paid by the carrier. The carrier is prohibited from selling the policy any cheaper if an individual does not use an agent.

Finding a health insurance program that meets everyone's needs is almost impossible. Finding a health insurance plan that provides good benefits with choices is very possible. Most plans require being in business for a year or more in Florida, but some do not.  If your business is small or if there are not many people that would be on your insurance or you have healthy people to cover you might consider individual health insurance plans.  If so, please have a look at Individual Health Insurance.

Census Form

Quick way to See if employer group health insurance or individual health insurance is the best choice for you or your business

bullet

If you need maternity coverage then the best maternity/pregnancy coverage is with a one person group plan

bullet

If you are sure you are uninsurable then you need a one person group plan.   Not everyone that contacts me that believes they are uninsurable are.  Just because one carrier has declined does not mean all will.  If you have a stent, bypass or cancer, then yes, you probably need to use a one person group plan.  If you have diabetes type 2 then we need to look into your situation some more.

bullet

If the neither of the two situations above apply to you, then individual health insurance will cost you less and give you more choices.  You can run quotes by clicking on the button "Individual Quotes" You can apply for individual health insurance at any time.

Bad idea no matter how you look at it

Some Ideas and Strategies

bullet

First determine which of your family members need guaranteed issue health insurance, they will need to be on the group policy, consider individual health insurance for the family members that qualify as the cost is less

bullet

If only the self employed person needs to be on the self employed health insurance and other family members qualify for individual health insurance, then consider individual health insurance for family members for the reasons above

bullet

If the spouse of the self employed person is uninsurable, even if the self employed person qualifies for individual health insurance, then the self employed person and spouse needs to be on the group plan

bullet

If maternity is necessary, then maternity is best covered on a group plan

bullet

Consider children having their own individual health insurance plans

United Healthcare

Humana

United HealthCare is an excellent choice because it offers some of the best features of both HMOs and PPOs. No referral to a specialist are needed. You only pay a copay for services. The plan descriptions and counties that United Healthcare is available in found by going to Index and looking under United HealthCare.

Humana PPO is an excellent choice for businesses having employees in different locations, especially if some are out of state. Humana PPO has national network. This means you and/or your employees could be in network or see network doctors around the country. Humana plans have to be quoted so a Census form e-mailed or faxed to us is needed.

These are some of the options available to help meet the health insurance needs of your business. We look forward to hearing from you.
