Employee Benefit Programs For Businesses with 50 or More Employees

Typically, when I am contacted by an employer, they are looking at their group health insurance plan.  An employer group health insurance plan is an essential part of employee benefit programs.   Sometimes, it tends to overshadow the real reason for an employer having it, which is to offer employees benefits above and beyond the pay they receive from their employment.   Historically, health insurance became an employee benefit during World War II.  Pay from frozen during the war and so employers had to find other ways to keep existing employees and attract new employees.   Providing employees with health insurance, at that time, was a very inexpensive way to do just that.

Over time, employees began to expect the employer to offer them and their families health insurance as part of being employed.    Currently, group health insurance benefits are a basic part of the employment arrangement for large groups in the US.   For many, it is not perceived as being an employer but just part of being employed.   This is where I and my associates come in.  We help both the employee and employer with employee benefit programs and not be locked in to seeing only the health insurance.

Employee benefits include the group health insurance, but should not be defined nor driven by the group health insurance plan.   In the purest sense, insurance is to protect against some possible yet unforeseen risk.  The risk is something that would preferably not occur, but if it did there losses incurred would be covered in some part by the insurance.  A simple example is auto insurance.  We carry auto insurance to help protect our interests in any number of situations, for example being in an accident.   We don't want to have an accident or crash, but they do happen.  Our auto insurance then comes into play.

Compare the auto insurance example with an how group health insurance is perceived.   How many times have you heard "I can't wait to go to the doctor now that I have insurance."   Group health insurance becomes a way of financing health care and is unlike any other type of insurance.   The employee benefit is their having access to healthcare.

Now, we begin to ask different questions.   We ask how we can provide access to health care to the employees, not let's bid our health insurance.   We ask what is the best way to use the monies that the employer is budgeting for employee benefits.    We ask what would most benefit the employer and employees?  The interesting thing about asking these types of questions is that what would most benefit one employee might be different from what would most benefit another.   Employees having choices become more and more important.  This is important to the finances of the employer and the happiness of the employees.

First, I want to put the employers mind at ease about costs.   We work outwards from your budget.  You are probably approached all the time by agents and agencies saying the same thing "I can save you money."  This is the first clue you are dealing with inexperienced agent(s).   There is no way that anyone can have any idea if they can save you money without having information on your business as it is and as you see it becoming.   Any agent can bid the group health insurance.  Only very experienced professional agents can custom design employee benefit programs.   This is also not about doing partially self funded health insurance.   I have and do these but partially self funded plans are only practical in special circumstances.

My associates and myself have designed and have in force employee benefit programs with some of the most desirable places to work in Florida.  Our employee programs have been instrumental in their receiving those awards.   I am happy to share that information with you.  Just call or email me and I will provide details including the names of the businesses.

So, do I provide group health insurance plans.  Yes.  Can I save you money?  I don't know yet.   Can I help you find creative ways to provide your employees with benefits that are attractive to them with the money you are currently spending on your group health insurance and other employee benefits?   Most likely, yes.

Save On Lab Tests

The price of health care has been rising and the price of health insurance has been rising.  The economy has made health care even more stressful.  You might have a higher deductible than before and you might be paying more out of pocket.  One way you to really save is by using the company that saves you money on your medical lab tests.  I don't mean just a little, but significantly.  On top of that there are no charges at all to use their services.  There is nothing to join and no fees to pay.  You go to a major lab and get your lab tests done at a half to one third of the street rate.  You do not need to be insured or a US citizen to use this service.  Anyone can use it.  You can make you HRA and HSA dollars go farther.  Same tests, big labs, better price.  I used them and saved money and so I put them on my website just click on the button "Save On Lab Tests" here or above

If you are a large group, meaning your company has 50 or more employees, then we should talk.   Please give me a call or send me an email and let's see what we can do for you.
